So our investigator Nanay Lolita is getting baptized this Saturday!! I'm so excited for her. She is literally the first one to church every Sunday and she is just excited. She is the craziest old lady I have ever met. I love her to death. And yeah I guess you could say she is a little "makulit."
This week was kind of scary, these last few weeks the right side of my body has been feeling pretty weak. My arm, leg and foot keep going numb as well. So I called the mission nurse and described my symptoms and she said "Elder Furniss, we're sending you to Manila." So last Monday, I got put on a bus alone, and headed to Manila where I was picked up by a senior missionary (who is a doctor) and we drove to St. Lukes hospital. When I got to the hospital, a nurse took my blood pressure, weighed me, checked my height (yep still short), and took a blood sample. The doctor I met with said "do you think you have had any problems with your memory lately?" I said "well sometimes, I forget to extend bold commitments at the end of lessons." He was pretty confused, anyways she said "ok we are going to test your memory, what's 2 plus 2?" "four" I replied. "good job." "So are you pretty good at math?" "not really." I said. Then she proceeded to ask me what is 100 minus 7, take the difference of that and continue to minus 7 from each difference. If it took me more than 3 seconds she would get this worried look in her eyes like I really did have memory problems. (turns out my memory is just fine). The last thing in the memory test was she asked me to draw a clock on a piece of paper and draw the arrows pointing ten minutes to 11. I failed that one...and I think that's when they decided to give me an MRI.
So I got an MRI the next day and wow those things are so loud. The senior missionary/doctor that I was with said "hey be careful, it might suck your brain right out." If any of you know me, you know how gullible I am. I was just a tad worried. Anyways before they took the MRI they asked "do you have any metal in your body?" Which of course, no I don't. So I said no. Then I get in the MRI and I start moving my tongue around and felt my permanent metal retainer and I just thought "Oh no. This is the end, these magnets are going to rip me my retainer out and my teeth are going to come right with it. So I kept my mouth closed as tight as I could during that MRI. So I finally got out of that spaceship and they told me that I would have to wait a while for the results. So I had to stay in the Missionary Recovery Center over night. So guess who got to take hot showers and eat lasagna? So that was a blessing.
So as of now I am still waiting for the results of the MRI. This week has been good though. Two of our investigators that we thought had moved to Olongapo ended up not moving so they are getting baptized in a few weeks as well! We have been experiencing tons of blessings here recently. I have felt the love of the Savior so strongly this week and I have received tons of blessings from all of you that have been praying for me. So thank you. I know this church is true and I know for sure that our Father in Heaven has a plan for each one of us. He is watching out for us. He is always there whenever we need someone to talk to. I am thankful for my Father in Heaven. And I know that he loves me and you. Well I hope you all have a good week. Thank you for all you do for me. Keep going to church, reading your scriptures, and praying. The iron rod is the word of God! Ingat!
Elder Furniss
